About Alicia

I chose to study acupuncture and East Asian medicine because I’ve had a lifelong fascination with natural medicine. I believe the body, mind, and spirit are innately capable of self-healing when properly nourished. I also believe that when it comes to health care, the best remedies are those from nature, as well as our our own bioenergetics.

I first sought acupuncture for the same reason many people do—during a particular health challenge for which Western medicine was failing me. The needles helped me experienced first-hand that we are energetic beings. Eventually, after working for 15 years in medical publishing, I made the decision to pursue East Asian medicine.

I hold a Master’s in Acupuncture Studies from the Won Institute of Graduate Studies in Glenside, PA. This is a 3-year graduate program that requires 600 hours of a supervised clinical internship treating real patients. I am also certified as a Diplomate in Acupuncture by the NCCAOM (National Certification for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine), which means that I have passed a biomedicine board examination in addition to my acupuncture training, and that I must complete 60 hours of continuing education every 4 years.

What I Believe

I believe that our bodily health is inextricably linked to the health of this planet, our home. By making healthy choices regarding what we put into our bodies and what we put out into the world on a daily basis, we can improve the health of both.

I believe in:
– natural vs. synthetic ingredients
– medicine that does no harm vs. causing side effects
– treating the whole vs. isolated components
– treated the root cause(s) vs. bandaging symptoms
– constitutional treatments. We are individuals; no single treatment/diet/lifestyle suits every person

I believe that we all deserve to feel our best. Sometimes, we need a little help to correct imbalances, remove what's not serving us, and instead adopt healthier habits. Let me help you achieve your goals!
